A new next-generation build-to-rent community is under construction in Leith, Edinburgh, set to deliver 373 homes, including a mix of family and affordable housing options. The development spans four apartment blocks and includes 1.3 acres of newly designed public space, enhancing the local environment and offering residents and visitors more opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Located on a 2.5-acre site directly along Albert Docks in the historic industrial Docklands of North Leith, the project is ideally positioned near Ocean Terminal, a major shopping and leisure destination. This waterfront development, named ‘Dockside,’ is designed to provide a high standard of living for its residents with a range of modern amenities.
Among the standout features of Dockside are its extensive resident facilities, which include a fitness centre, landscaped communal gardens, co-working spaces, and rooftop terraces. These terraces offer sweeping panoramic views, stretching from the Firth of Forth to the north and Edinburgh’s iconic city centre to the south, providing a scenic and enjoyable living experience.
Vercon was tasked to deliver dynamic traffic analysis and expert planning guidance for the project, alongside developing a detailed specification document for the tender process. Partnering with leading lift suppliers, Vercon crafted a comprehensive lift solution that included 7 passenger/goods lifts, specifically designed to meet and exceed the operational needs of the site. This lift package ensures smooth and efficient transportation within the development, aligning with the project’s high standards for functionality and performance.
